Getting started with network management (v. 2025) – Frederik Vanhoo
With this course, you will learn the basics about network administration.
You will learn a lot of networking concepts and how they are applied within a network in an SME and at home. The cloud is also highlighted and you take a look at how the internet gets to your home or in a business(es).
Several practicals will be covered including setting up a hardware firewall via pfSense and how to capture network traffic via Wireshark.
In quite a few places within the course, "additional floors" are covered. These certainly offer added value to go through, but are not necessary.
The course constitutes the first part working on the curriculum objectives on "Managing networks" and "Data communication and network systems" in secondary education for the courses "Application and data management" and "Computer and communication sciences".
The second part is obtained through the follow-up course "Network Administration and Security". This course can also be gone through separately.
